- Now Shea Butter Moisturizing Natural Emollient For Dry Skin is suitable for dry or rough skin in need of moisture, especially on tougher areas such as the elbows, knees and feet. Shea Butter is derived from the tree nuts of the karite trees that grow in Western and Central Africa. It is a wonderful emollient that's perfect for daily use. Natural Shea Butter has a rich, luxurious texture and is typically used for its moisturizing effects. These benefits are tied to shea’s fatty acid content, including linoleic, oleic, stearic, and palmitic acids. When you apply shea topically, these oils are rapidly absorbed into your skin. They act as a refatting agent, restoring lipids and rapidly creating moisture. This restores the barrier between your skin and the outside environment, holding moisture in and reducing your risk of dryness. This may help minimize irritation caused by environmental factors, such as weather changes that leaves skin dry and parched. Significant levels of vitamins A and E, which means it promotes strong antioxidant activity. They protect your skin cells from free radicals that can lead to premature aging and dull-looking skin. Shea butter will melt when warmed above body temperature and becomes solid again when it cool, this is natural and may affect the appearance but will not harm the quality of the product.

If solid, shea butter can be softened by placing in a pan of hot water (e.g. 100° or warmer) for 30 minutes or by microwaving until soft.
